How to Use

Video Stream for Chromecast

VideoCast is a mobile web browser that streams web videos, web audio, and your own photos and videos to Chromecast-enabled TVs and speakers on your local Wi-Fi network.

Just open your favorite website in the built-in browser and start playing — VideoCast detects the stream and casts it to your selected receiver. You can also cast files directly from the Local Files tab.

Before you start

  • Your iPhone or iPad and your Chromecast device must be on the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Allow Local Network access when iOS asks — it is required to discover receivers.
  • Works with Chromecast, Chromecast with Google TV, Google Nest speakers and displays, and TVs with Chromecast built-in.
  • DRM-protected services such as Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video are not supported.

New to Chromecast? See Google's setup guide.

Cast a web video or music in 3 steps

  1. Connect to your Chromecast. Tap the cast icon in the top toolbar of the Browser tab and choose your device from the list.
  2. Open a website with the video or audio you want to play. Use the search bar to load any site that streams video or music.
  3. Press play. When the media starts on your device, VideoCast streams it to your TV or speaker automatically. Use the cast mini player to pause, scrub, or change the volume.

Cast local photos and videos

  1. Open the Local Files tab. Pick photos or videos from your Photo Library, or import a file from the Files app.
  2. Make sure a receiver is connected. Tap the cast icon to choose your TV or speaker if you haven't already.
  3. Tap any item to start casting. Recent items appear in your cast history so you can replay them quickly.

Tips & tricks

  • Some sites play ads first Wait for the ad to finish on your iPhone or iPad. VideoCast can only stream the main video once it starts playing locally.
  • Page won't load? Some sites redirect to ad pages before showing the video. You can adjust pop-up and redirect handling in Settings → Browser.
  • Built-in ad blocker VideoCast includes an on-device content blocker that filters trackers and ads in the browser. Toggle it any time in Settings.
  • Tabs, bookmarks, and history Manage open tabs from the tab grid, and find saved pages and recent visits in the My Page tab.
  • Keep VideoCast open while casting For some websites, VideoCast streams the video through your device. If you close or background the app, the cast may stop. Keep VideoCast in the foreground to ensure uninterrupted playback.
  • Go ad-free with Premium The optional Premium upgrade removes in-app advertising. Manage it in Settings → Premium.

Troubleshooting

  • Can't see your Chromecast? Restart Wi-Fi on your device, and make sure both the iPhone/iPad and the receiver are on the same network (no guest network).
  • Video plays on your device but won't cast? The site may use a DRM-protected stream — try a different source.
  • Audio only? The receiver may not support that video codec — try another quality option on the site.
  • Still stuck? Force-quit the app and relaunch, then reconnect to the receiver.
